Yankees sweep Astros with Juan Soto's 9th RBI single.

The New York Yankees won 4-3 Sunday over the Houston Astros after Juan Soto had three hits including an RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning.

At 3-3, Gleyber Torres singled off closer Josh Hader (0-1) with two outs in the ninth inning and stole second base. Soto then singled to left field on a line drive.

It "put a bow on what we saw in his at-bats," manager Aaron Boone said.

In his first games with the Yankees after his trade from San Diego, Soto hit.529 (9-for-17) with four RBIs, propelling New York to its first 4-0 start since 2003 and fourth since 1950.

"That's the kind of start I wanted," laughed Soto. "I grinded really hard this offseason and in spring training to be successful in the beginning of the season."

The Astros faced Clay Holmes in the bottom of the inning and tried to tie. Jose Altuve hit a strong grounder that third baseman Jon Berti dived to catch for a forceout after Jeremy Pena and pinch hitter Victor Caratini singled.

Yordan Alvarez hit a drive 2 inches foul of the left-field line and then a fly to third, advancing pinch runner Mauricio Dubon.

Alex Verdugo's sliding catch in left field on Kyle Tucker's ball ended it and gave Holmes his third save.
