Tennis: Collins defeats Rybakina to win Miami title in farewell season.

Miami, Florida (Reuters) - Danielle Collins, an American, defeated fourth seed Elena Rybakina 7-5 6-3 in the final of the Miami Open on Saturday, winning the title on home turf in her final season.

Collins earned nearly 75% of her first-serve points and three of her seven break opportunities on her way to victory

in just over two hours following a remarkable final set that left the spectators, including former Miami champion Andre Agassi, in awe.

"This is my first WTA 1000, and I worked so hard that it took me a little longer than most of the other players," Collins, 30, told Sky Sports.

"Today it has been surreal to come here and play in front of so many people and having the whole stadium by my side it's really special."

Collins, who announced in January that she will retire from tennis at the conclusion of the season, was a surprise winner in the East Coast tournament

surpassing her performance at the 2022 Australian Open, where she reached the final.

Major League Baseball owners unanimously authorized the team's move to Las Vegas, with a target date of 2028.
