Report: 'Multiple' NFL Teams Ranked J.J. McCarthy Higher Than Drake Maye

We're less than a month away from the 2024 NFL selection, and former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy has continued to climb selection lists.

Even though he isn't one of the draft's consensus top three quarterbacks, ESPN's Matt Miller reports that "multiple" teams rank him ahead of former North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

Maye is likely to be selected in the top three rounds of the draft, which is high praise for McCarthy.

"One of the more intriguing details I've learned in the last two weeks is that McCarthy is ranked higher than North Carolina's Drake Maye by several NFL organizations.

A high-ranking evaluator I spoke with this week stated McCarthy's winning resume, upside as a mobile quarterback, and superb poise

When under pressure last season, McCarthy completed an FBS-best 68% of his passes and averaged 10 yards per attempt (second best)," Miller said.

McCarthy may not be selected before the real draft in May, but he is unlikely to advance beyond the first round. In fact, he's very likely to be selected in the top 20 in the first round

He helped Michigan win the national championship this season, completing 72.3% of his throws for 2,991 yards and 22 touchdowns.
