Pumpkin Gingerbread Smoothie

This pumpkin gingerbread smoothie tastes like your favorite holiday dessert, but it's packed with health-promoting nutrients like fresh ginger, blackstrap molasses, and chia seeds. Vegan and gluten-free.

Oh wow, I think I've found my new favorite cold weather smoothie. It mixes the flavors of two seasonal desserts: pumpkin pie and gingerbread.

Honestly, I think it's one of my favorite smoothie recipes! Did I mention it's vegan, gluten-free, and packed with tons of nutritious ingredients?

Let's speak about ginger for a minute because it's quite amazing! Not only is it an immune booster (which is especially important during the winter months when colds and other viruses are common),

but it is also recognized for relieving stomach pain, aiding digestion, and giving the body with anti-inflammatory substances known as gingerols.

Ginger is also effective for treating morning sickness during pregnancy. During my pregnancy with Liv, I craved everything ginger.

I also like how it adds heat and spice to things. A little goes a long way, and it really gives this smoothie a kick.

Quick tip: Peel fresh ginger, place it in a freezer ziplock bag, and freeze. It lasts far longer than in the fridge, and it's also easier to grate with a microplane while frozen.
