NFL: Miami Dolphins give contract extension to key player

The Miami Dolphins made a major move in an attempt to improve their chances in the AFC East.

The Miami Dolphins enjoyed a strong start to the 2023 season, going 6-2, but things began to fall apart with three defeats in their final five games.

In the end, they were unable to win the AFC East and were eliminated by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.

The trouble in 2024 appears to be on defense. Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb are still suffering from major injuries, cornerback Xavien Howard has been released,

and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel has signed with the Minnesota Vikings after becoming a free agency.

However, the offense retains its core group, which includes quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the NFL's most dynamic wide receiver tandem, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Despite an excellent passing game in 2023, head coach Mike McDaniel was able to widen his playbook thanks to the running game, which was spearheaded by rookie De'Von Achane and veteran Raheem Mostert.

Mostert was spectacular, hauling up 1012 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a result, the Dolphins have opted to modify his deal. The arrangement has now been extended for one year.
