NC State beats Duke to reach Final Four since 1983.

Coach Kevin Keatts understood adding DJ Burns Jr. via the transfer portal two seasons ago would transform his career.

He wouldn't realize the scope of that transition until Sunday, when Burns led the Wolfpack to its first men's Final Four since 1983.

Burns scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half as NC State won the South Regional over Duke 76-64.

Burns scored eight of NC State's first 11 points but was called for a second foul 10 minutes in and didn't score again.

Wolfpack trailed 27-21 after shooting 27% in the first half.

NC State scored 55 points in the second half on 73% shooting thanks to Burns' 21 and DJ Horne's 15. For 12 minutes in the half,

the Wolfpack outscored Duke 31-11 to seize control, and Duke never threatened again.

Keatts didn't realize that Burns' move from Winthrop two years ago started NC State's 11-seed journey to the Final Four.
