MLB's top remaining free agent is 'baffled' by the dearth of offers

Two days into the regular season, only one position player from MLBTR's Top 50 Free Agents list is still unsigned: designated hitter/first baseman Brandon Belt. 

The veteran slugger appeared on The JD Bunkis Podcast on Friday to discuss his ongoing free agency.

According to Belt, he had very few calls with teams this winter that went beyond the teams expressing a general interest.

He never got into the habit of "talking about money" with any clubs.

According to Ad Belt, he was often considered a backup option if a team couldn't sign their first pick to a long-term contract. Finally, he states that "pretty much every one" of those clubs has "got their guy." 

He may be talking to the Giants, who signed Jorge Soler to a three-year contract, or the Mariners, who signed Mitch Garver to a two-year contract. 

Several other teams signed designated hitters to one-year contracts this offseason, including the Diamondbacks (Joc Pederson), Mets (J.D. Martinez), and Blue Jays (Justin Turner).

The Rangers were apparently interested in signing Belt, but they never made an offer. That undoubtedly had something to do with top prospect Wyatt Langford landing a spot on the Opening Day roster, but Texas
